Part-time Taproom & Retail Associate
(15-20 hours/week)
Job Description

This position is responsible for ensuring that customers have a positive and memorable experience at Gateway City Brewery. The candidate must have a passion for craft beer and for learning the details of the beers that we produce and our general business operations.

Responsibilities include: Greeting customers promptly and courteously; guiding customers to beers they enjoy; setting up, cleaning up, daily operations and special events; stocking beer and retail merchandise in the taproom; accurately performing daily retail fridge & keg inventory; daily money handling procedures. Promotes the sale of beer products sold in the taproom. Describes beer/brand history and provide general tourist information. Candidate must possess their Smart Serve Certification or be able to complete Smart Serve before hire.
 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent people skills; able to project a friendly and helpful manner at all times

  • Able to perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision

  • Greets all visitors to the brewery and pours beer for tasting

  • Effectively suggest and recommend beer to customers

  • Describe beer and brewery history to customers

  • Answers visitor's questions and able to provide general tourist information

  • Open to working on site for special events after hours, if needed

  • Open to working other special events off property when needed

  • Handle routine purchasing transactions, which include operating cash register

  • Acquires and maintains thorough knowledge of the brewery and our beer

  • Work in a team environment and open to performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Smart Serve Required before start date
    Able to work a flexible schedule

  • Retail experience an asset

  • Able to lift 40 pounds

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend for up to 8 hours a day

  • Weekends, holidays and evenings required

Duties:

  • Greeting and seating customers

  • Serving alcohol

  • Busing, cleaning, and resetting tables

  • Answering phone calls

  • Prep or side work

  • Preparing bill and processing payment

  • Cleaning duties such as stocking, sanitizing, sweeping floors.

  • Reconciling daily cash transactions
